WHY RUN FOR HEATH CITY COUNCIL?
By Scott Dodson
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Citizens of Heath. My name is Scott Dodson and I am running for Heath City Council – Place 5 in the May 4th election. I would sincerely appreciate your support and vote.
Heath is an absolute gem of a city, but with our unique attributes of being a park and lakefront community in North Texas come the challenges of securing a sustainable water supply, infrastructure, sensible development and transparency in our local government. Police, fire and emergency services are also important considerations and priorities in providing a world-class and safe environment for our residents, many of whom want to make Heath their forever home.
I feel as though our elected officials should do more to engage with our citizens as we are at a critical point where cities around us are adopting a ‘rooftop growth’ strategy while we are fighting to preserve our unique and rural feel as a community. As a City Council member, I will work on the key issues that you believe are most important as we collaborate on the areas that will make Heath an even better place for all of us to live and for future generations.
My wife and I live in Buffalo Creek and are parents to 6 adult children all whom which have graduated and taken careers throughout the country. Recently we were blessed with our first grandchild.
I am the CEO of a medical device company, Compression Works, Inc., and we make a life-saving technology to stop severe bleeding on the battlefield for our military, first responders and emergency medicine departments around the world. I love serving our community and have been involved in many organizations from political to philanthropic. I serve as the Vice President of the Heath Economic Development Corporation (HEDC), the Vice President of the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club, GOP, Steering Committee member for the Heath, TX Comprehensive Plan, Precinct 3C Chairperson, Past Treasurer for the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club, Past Treasurer for Lonestar CASA and an active member of Lakepointe Church.
In the coming weeks and months, I will be out and about to introduce myself and to get your thoughts on the key issues that you see as important so that we can focus our efforts on the will of the community.
TOGETHER WE THRIVE!
